Transmission and driveline components are what turn engine power into useful work at the wheels. If a gearbox fails, a differential starts to howl or a propshaft lets go, the whole truck is parked up. In this category you’ll find tested used OEM transmission & drivetrain parts removed from late-model European trucks in our UK breaker yard and listed with clear photos and honest descriptions.

What transmission & drivetrain parts we stock

Our stock in this section changes as we dismantle more donor vehicles, but typical items in the Transmission & Drivetrain category include:

  • manual and automated gearboxes, with bellhousings and gearshift linkages;
  • complete differential axles and differential centres for single and hub-reduction axles;
  • driveshafts and propshafts with centre bearings and universal joints;
  • clutches, pressure plates and clutch actuators (see also the dedicated sub-categories for Clutches and Pressure Plates);
  • other transmission hardware such as mountings, cross-members and PTO-related parts, grouped under Other Transmission & Drivetrain.

Each listing shows the actual gearbox, axle or shaft you will receive, with close-up photos of identification tags, casting numbers, ratio stamps and mounting points so you can compare it to the components on your own truck.

Truck brands, ratios and typical applications

Most drivetrain parts we stock come from mainstream European heavy trucks such as Volvo FH/FM, MAN TGX/TGS, DAF XF/XG, Scania R/S and Mercedes-Benz Actros, Arocs and Atego. Our focus is on modern Euro 5–Euro 6 vehicles sourced in the UK, often from fleet renewals or accident-damaged trucks rather than catastrophic mechanical failures, which helps ensure the core transmission components are still in serviceable condition when removed.

Whether you run long-haul tractor units, construction tippers, plant and machinery transporters, drawbar combinations or recovery trucks, you’ll find a range of gearbox models, axle ratios and propshaft lengths to suit. Where possible we record the donor truck’s make, model, wheelbase, axle configuration and gearbox or axle code, so you can match like-for-like or choose a ratio that better fits your operation.

Tested used OEM drivetrain parts from dismantled trucks

Before any gearbox, differential or driveline component is added to stock, it is removed carefully during our structured dismantling process. Gearboxes are drained and inspected for obvious damage to casings and input/output shafts; differentials are checked for excessive backlash and chipped teeth; propshafts are inspected for play in universal joints and centre bearings. Only parts that pass our visual and basic functional checks are listed for sale – anything suspect is stripped for cores rather than shipped to a customer.

Because all parts are taken from trucks we dismantle ourselves in Essex, we can usually provide OEM part numbers and donor details alongside detailed photos. This transparency, combined with our focus on late-model European trucks, helps workshops and fleet operators buy used transmission & drivetrain parts with confidence.

Shipping, returns and checking compatibility

Heavy drivetrain components require careful handling, so gearboxes, axles and propshafts are palletised or crated securely before dispatch. Orders are shipped quickly from our yard in Stanford-le-Hope with tracked delivery options across the UK and EU, and most items come with a 30-day returns period for extra peace of mind.

If you are unsure whether a particular gearbox, differential or driveshaft will fit your truck, contact VRA Truckparts with your registration, VIN and existing part numbers. Our team will help you cross-check ratios, mounting types and overall dimensions before you place an order, or point you to alternatives within the Transmission & Drivetrain range. You can also browse the Trucks We Dismantle page to see the donor vehicles your drivetrain parts come from and to source matching components from the same truck.
