Instruments, dials and gauges give the driver all the information needed to keep a heavy truck safe and legal on the road. From speedometers and tachometers to full instrument clusters and digital data loggers, these components live at the centre of the dashboard and communicate speed, engine status and tachograph records to the driver and authorities. This category brings together tested used OEM truck instruments, dials and gauges removed from late-model European vehicles in our UK breaker yard and listed with clear photos and honest descriptions.

What instruments, dials & gauges we stock

Stock in the Instruments, Dials & Gauges category changes as we dismantle more donor trucks, but typical items include:

  • complete instrument panels and clusters with analogue gauges and digital displays (see also the dedicated Instrument Panels & Clusters section);
  • tachometers / rev counters and combined speedometer-rev counter units for various engine and gearbox combinations;
  • digital tachographs and data loggers used to record driving and rest times, vehicle speed and distance (these units normally require calibration by an authorised centre after installation);
  • individual gauges such as fuel level, air pressure, temperature and oil pressure instruments, where available;
  • small dashboard modules, warning light panels and information displays related to the main instrument cluster.

Each listing shows the actual instrument or gauge you will receive, with close-up photos of front faces, connector types, mounting points and OEM labels so you can compare them directly to the components fitted in your cab.

Truck brands & typical applications

Most of the instruments and dashboard components we offer come from mainstream European heavy trucks such as Volvo FH/FM, MAN TGX/TGS, DAF XF/XG, Scania R/S and Mercedes-Benz Actros, Arocs and Atego. Our focus is on Euro 5–Euro 6 vehicles sourced in the UK and dismantled at our yard in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, which helps ensure the electronics are still suitable for reuse when removed.

Common applications include long-haul tractor units, construction chassis, plant and machinery transporters, drawbar rigs and recovery vehicles. Whether you are replacing a failed instrument cluster, sourcing a matching tachograph head unit or swapping a damaged gauge, this section is the best place to start when you want an OEM unit rather than an unknown aftermarket part.

Tested used OEM instrument clusters, tachos & gauges

Before any instrument panel, tachometer or data logger is added to stock, it is removed carefully during our structured dismantling process. Dash clusters are checked for broken mounting points, cracked lenses and obvious damage to circuit boards, and where practical are powered up to check that backlighting, main gauges and warning lights behave as expected. Digital units such as tachographs and data loggers are inspected for damage to card slots, buttons and connectors, and screens are checked for dead pixels or heavy scratches. Items that do not meet our standards are removed from sale rather than shipped to a customer

Because all parts come directly from trucks we dismantle ourselves, we can often provide donor details such as make, model, Euro class and mileage together with OEM part numbers and cross-references. This information, combined with the photos in the listing, makes it easier for workshops and fleet operators to match an instrument or gauge from one vehicle to another with the same dashboard layout or electrical specification.

Shipping, returns and checking compatibility

All instruments, dials and gauges are stored indoors and packed carefully before dispatch to protect delicate electronics and clear plastic lenses. Orders are shipped quickly from our Essex yard with tracked delivery options across the UK and EU, and most items are supplied with a 30-day returns period so you can fit and test the part on the vehicle with confidence.

If you are unsure whether a particular instrument cluster, tachograph or gauge will fit your truck, contact VRA Truckparts with your registration, VIN and photos or part numbers from your original unit. Our team will help you check compatibility, or direct you to alternatives within the Instruments, Dials & Gauges range. You can also browse the Trucks We Dismantle page to see the donor vehicles your dashboard components come from and to source other matching parts from the same trucks.
