Driveshafts – also known as propshafts or propeller shafts – are a key part of the transmission & drivetrain on any heavy truck. They transfer torque from the gearbox to the drive axle, absorbing suspension movement through universal joints and centre bearings. A worn or damaged driveshaft can cause vibration, noise and, in extreme cases, driveline failure.

Used OEM driveshafts & propshafts for modern trucks

In this category you’ll find tested used driveshafts and propshafts removed from carefully selected donor vehicles, including: MAN TGX/TGS tractor units, DAF XF and CF, Volvo FH and FM, Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs and other modern European HGVs. We focus on late Euro 5 and Euro 6 trucks, so dimensions, flanges and spline designs match the current fleet on UK and EU roads.

Each shaft is listed with clear photos and OEM part numbers where available, so you can match your existing unit or workshop documentation. Many listings also show the donor truck details (brand, model, year, Euro class) to simplify compatibility checks.

What you can expect from a VRA Truckparts driveshaft

  • OEM quality: genuine driveshafts and propshafts from major brands and OE suppliers, not pattern copies.
  • Tested in the donor truck: wherever possible we road-test donor vehicles before dismantling to check for vibration or driveline noise.
  • Visual inspection: splines, yokes, universal joints and centre bearings are checked for excessive play, cracks or obvious damage.
  • Honest descriptions: any marks, dents or corrosion are photographed and mentioned in the listing, so there are no surprises on delivery.

Our dismantling and inspection steps are described in more detail on the VRA Truckparts Dismantling & Quality Process page.

How to choose the right driveshaft

To select the correct driveshaft or propshaft for your truck, we recommend:

  • comparing OEM part numbers stamped on your existing shaft with the numbers shown in our product photos;
  • checking the gearbox and axle type (for example ZF TraXon, Mercedes or Volvo drive axles) and wheelbase configuration;
  • measuring centre-to-centre length and flange patterns if in doubt;
  • sending us your VIN and part number so we can double-check compatibility before you order.

For more general guidance, see our How to Find the Right Part and How to Order pages on the site.

Shipping, cores and fitting advice

We ship driveshafts and propshafts from our Essex base with tracked delivery across the UK and to many EU destinations. Each unit is packed securely to protect splines, flanges and universal joints in transit. Where a core surcharge applies, the conditions and process are explained in our Core Units & Surcharge policy.

For safety reasons, we recommend professional installation with correct torque settings on all flange bolts, and a check of related components such as centre bearings, universal joints and differential/gearbox mounts. Done properly, a good used OEM driveshaft can restore smooth driveline operation and keep your truck earning on the road at a fraction of the cost of new.
