What do truck light covers and surrounds do?

Light covers and surrounds are the plastic or metal frames that sit around your headlights, fog lights and reverse and tail lights. They help to:

hold the lamp unit securely in the bumper or bodywork;
protect the light from stone chips, dirt and moisture;
keep the correct beam pattern and alignment;
restore the original appearance of the front or rear of the truck.

If a light cover is cracked, missing or broken, water and dirt can enter the lamp, the lens can move out of position and the vehicle may fail roadworthiness inspections. Replacing only the surround or cover is often far cheaper than changing the complete light unit.
