Headlights are one of the most important safety components on any heavy truck. They provide the main forward beam at night and in poor weather, helping drivers see the road ahead and making sure other road users can see an HGV in time. When a headlamp is cracked, full of water, badly faded or has a damaged mounting, the truck quickly becomes unsafe and may fail inspection – even if the rest of the lighting system is working.

In this Headlights category of our Lighting range you will find used OEM headlamps and related front lighting parts removed from late-model European lorries. All units are genuine components taken from donor vehicles dismantled in our UK breaker yard, then inspected and listed with clear photos, OEM numbers and honest condition descriptions.

What kinds of truck headlights are in this category?

This section covers complete headlamp assemblies and closely related components, for example:

  • complete left and right headlight units for DAF, MAN, Volvo, Scania and Mercedes-Benz trucks;
  • halogen headlamps with H7/H1 bulbs and integrated indicators or DRLs;
  • factory LED headlights and LED daytime running light modules where fitted on newer models;
  • headlamp rear covers and dust caps that protect the bulb and connector area;
  • headlamp support housings, brackets and mounting frames that locate the lamp in the bumper or front panel.

Other lighting such as Fog Lights , Reverse & Tail Lights and Light Covers is listed separately elsewhere in the Lighting section so that you can quickly focus on the parts you need.

OEM headlights vs. cheap aftermarket units

Modern HGV headlights are designed specifically for the cab, bumper and electronics of each truck model. Genuine OEM lamps match:

  • the correct beam pattern and cut-off for right-hand drive UK and EU roads;
  • the exact shape of the bumper and grille openings;
  • mounting points, adjusters and clips on the cab and front panel;
  • wiring connectors, bulb types and any integrated LED or DRL modules.

Cheap aftermarket lamps may look similar but often differ slightly in optics, sealing and mounting. This can lead to poor light output, condensation inside the lens and premature failure. By choosing used OEM headlights from VRA Truckparts, you keep the original quality and fit, while still saving significantly compared with buying new.

Truck brands and donor vehicles

VRA Truckparts focuses on late Euro 5–Euro 6 European heavy trucks. Typical donor vehicles for the headlamps in this category include:

  • Volvo FH and FM tractor units and rigids;
  • MAN TGX and TGS long-haul and distribution trucks;
  • DAF CF and XF/XG models;
  • Mercedes-Benz Actros, Antos and Atego trucks;
  • Scania R- and S-series vehicles and other modern HGVs.

To see examples of trucks we dismantle and find matching components from the same donor, visit the Trucks We Dismantle page.

How we test and grade used headlights

Headlamps are removed as part of our structured Dismantling & Quality Process. During dismantling and inspection we:

  • check the lens for cracks, heavy stone damage and severe yellowing;
  • inspect the housing for broken mounts, missing adjusters and signs of impact;
  • look for water ingress, corrosion and burnt connectors;
  • where possible, confirm basic light function on the donor truck or test rig.

Each listing shows the actual headlight or bracket you will receive, with close-up photos of any cosmetic marks or repairs. Condition grades and comments are provided so you can decide if a part is suitable as a direct replacement or better for testing/spares.

Checking compatibility before ordering

Headlights are often specific to cab type, bumper design, facelift version and market (beam pattern). Before ordering, we recommend:

  • comparing the OEM / OE part numbers on your existing headlamp with those shown in our product photos;
  • noting your truck’s make, model, year, Euro class and cab variant (e.g. high-roof, low-roof);
  • checking whether your truck uses halogen or factory LED units and if DRLs are integrated;
  • making sure the listing side (LH/RH) and beam type (RHD) match your vehicle.

If you are not sure which headlamp is correct, please see our How to Find the Right Truck Part guide and Compatibility & VIN Policy, then contact VRA Truckparts with your registration, VIN and current part number. Our team can help you cross-check compatibility or suggest suitable alternatives elsewhere in the Lighting section.
