Used truck brake sensors & switches for ABS, ESP and brake control

Brake sensors and switches are key components in modern heavy truck braking systems. They monitor wheel speed, brake pressure, vehicle stability and pad wear, sending information to ABS, ESP and EBS control units so the truck can brake safely in all conditions. In this category you will find used OEM truck brake sensors & switches removed from late-model European lorries and listed with clear part numbers and photos.

Typical examples from our stock include VSC/ESP sensors for DAF XF106/CF Wabco systems, air pressure sensors with brackets for Volvo FH/FM and brake pad wear sensor cables for Mercedes Actros/Arocs Euro 6 trucks, all removed from complete donor vehicles and stored ready for dispatch.

What types of brake sensors & switches we stock

As we dismantle more trucks, the exact range of parts will change, but the Brake Sensors & Switches category usually contains:

  • ABS wheel speed sensors that monitor individual wheel rotation and help prevent wheel lock-up during braking;
  • ESP / ESC / VSC yaw and lateral acceleration sensors used by stability control to detect loss of control or skidding;
  • brake pressure sensors that measure hydraulic or air pressure in the brake circuit or master control valves;
  • brake light switches and pedal position switches that signal braking to the ECU, lights and assistance systems;
  • brake pad wear sensors and cables that warn when discs or pads are approaching minimum thickness;
  • other brake-related switches and sensing elements that interact with ABS, EBS or ESP systems.

How brake sensors & switches work

In ABS-equipped trucks, wheel speed sensors measure rotation by monitoring teeth on a tone ring or gear mounted near the hub. The sensor detects each passing tooth; if the signal shows a rapid drop in wheel speed relative to the vehicle, the ABS valve reduces brake pressure to that wheel to prevent lock-up and maintain steerability.

Brake pressure sensors and pedal position switches provide the control unit with precise information about driver input and system pressure, allowing modern ABS/ESP systems to balance braking effort and stability across multiple axles, trailers and load conditions. Yaw and acceleration sensors provide extra data so the stability control can intervene if the truck starts to slide or jack-knife.

Truck brands & typical applications

Most brake sensors and switches we list come from mainstream European trucks such as DAF CF/XF, Volvo FH/FM, Mercedes-Benz Actros/Arocs/Atego, MAN TGX/TGS, Scania and similar platforms. These are genuine OEM components from manufacturers such as Wabco, Knorr-Bremse, Bendix and others, originally fitted to Euro 5 and Euro 6 vehicles.

Typical applications include:

  • replacing failed ABS wheel speed sensors that cause ABS or EBS warning lights on the dash;
  • repairing faults in ESP / ESC systems due to defective yaw or lateral acceleration sensors;
  • resolving brake warning lights caused by faulty pressure sensors or pedal switches;
  • fixing pad wear indicator faults with new wear sensors and harnesses;
  • source-correct OEM parts when error codes relate to specific sensors in the braking system.

How to choose the correct brake sensor or switch

Electronics and sensors in modern braking systems are highly vehicle-specific. To avoid ordering the wrong part, always check:

  • OEM part number and any supersession numbers printed on the sensor body or label;
  • sensor type and function – ABS wheel speed, brake pressure, yaw/ESP, brake light switch, pad wear sensor, etc.;
  • connector shape & pin count, cable length and mounting points shown in the photos;
  • truck brand, model, year and Euro class (for example DAF XF106 Euro 6, Volvo FH4 Euro 6);
  • position where relevant – specific axle, corner (front/rear, left/right) or mounting on the chassis/crossmember.

If you are unsure which sensor or switch you need, you can contact us with the VIN or registration number and the fault codes from your diagnostic tool. Our team will help you cross-check part numbers and choose a suitable replacement. For more guidance, see How to Find the Right Part and Compatibility & VIN Policy.

Tested used OEM brake sensors from dismantled trucks

Before trucks are dismantled, we aim to run and check braking and safety systems where possible. During removal, sensors and switches are inspected for obvious physical damage, broken brackets, cracked housings and corroded connectors. Only items that meet our standards for used parts are cleaned, labelled and stored indoors ready for sale.

Because these are genuine OEM components removed from complete vehicles, you benefit from the correct calibration, fitment and connector layout for your truck’s ABS/ESP/EBS system, instead of guessing with generic aftermarket parts.
