Used truck air flow, intake air & pressure sensors for European HGVs

Air flow and intake air sensors are critical for how a modern heavy truck engine runs. Mass air flow (MAF) sensors, intake air temperature sensors and pressure sensors measure how much air is entering the engine and how dense it is. This data is used by the engine control unit to calculate fuelling, turbocharger boost and exhaust aftertreatment, keeping power, emissions and fuel consumption under control.

In this category we offer used OEM air flow, intake air temperature and air pressure sensors removed from complete donor trucks. Stock can include air flow and pressure modules such as Wabco ESC/air sensor control units, interior air temperature sensors for DAF XF/XF106/CF Euro 6 cabs and A/C air conditioning pressure sensors for Volvo FH/FM, as well as other intake-air related sensors as new donor vehicles arrive.

What you will find in the Air Flow Sensors category

Stock in the Air Flow Sensors category changes regularly, but it typically includes:

  • mass air flow (MAF) sensors that measure the amount of air entering the engine intake;
  • intake manifold pressure and temperature sensors (MAP / boost sensors) that monitor air pressure and temperature in the intake tract;
  • charge air temperature sensors positioned before or after the intercooler;
  • cabin and interior air temperature sensors used for climate control in the cab;
  • A/C air conditioning pressure sensors that protect the refrigerant circuit and control compressor operation;
  • air sensor control modules such as ESC/air sensor units used in complex brake and stability systems.

Each listing includes clear photos, OE/OEM part numbers where available and donor vehicle details, so you can compare connector type, mounting position and wiring arrangement with the sensor fitted to your own truck.

Truck brands & typical applications

Most sensors in this category are taken from mainstream European heavy trucks, including:

  • DAF XF and CF series, including XF106 Euro 6 with MX-11 and MX-13 engines;
  • Mercedes-Benz Actros tractors and rigids with Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines;
  • MAN TGS and TGX long-haul and construction trucks;
  • Volvo FH and FM long-distance and regional haulage trucks;
  • other brands such as Scania and Iveco when suitable donor vehicles are available.

Because these are genuine OEM parts removed from complete trucks, each sensor is normally tied to a specific engine family, emission standard and wiring harness design, which is important for correct fit and signal output.

Why air flow & intake sensors matter

Healthy air flow and intake sensors are essential for a working HGV:

  • Fuel control & power – accurate air mass and pressure data allows the ECU to control fuelling and boost, keeping power delivery smooth and consistent;
  • Emissions & aftertreatment – correct intake readings help EGR, DPF and SCR systems work properly and reduce fault codes;
  • Fuel economy – a faulty MAF or MAP sensor can cause over-fuelling, black smoke and higher fuel consumption;
  • Diagnostics & limp mode – bad signals from intake or pressure sensors are a common cause of warning lights, reduced power modes and stored fault codes.

Typical reasons to replace an air flow or intake sensor

Common reasons to order parts from this category include:

  • fault codes related to air flow, boost pressure or intake air temperature stored in the ECU;
  • loss of power, poor throttle response or excessive smoke under load;
  • unstable idle or difficult starting once basic checks for air leaks and filters are complete;
  • A/C system not engaging correctly due to a faulty pressure sensor in the refrigerant circuit;
  • physical damage to connectors or sensor bodies, corrosion from water ingress or previous poor repairs;
  • replacing non-original parts with the correct OEM sensor for your truck brand, engine and model year.

How to choose the correct air flow or intake sensor

To minimise fitting issues and avoid repeat faults, please check the following details before ordering:

  • truck brand, model and generation – for example DAF XF106, Mercedes Actros MP4, MAN TGX Euro 6, Volvo FH4;
  • engine type and emission class – sensor specifications often change between Euro 3, Euro 4/5 and Euro 6 versions;
  • sensor type & location – MAF in the intake duct, MAP sensor on the manifold, charge air temperature sensor, cabin temperature sensor or A/C pressure sensor;
  • connector style and pin count – plug shape, number of pins and keying must match your original sensor;
  • mounting method – bolted flange, bayonet fitting, push-in with O-ring or threaded port in a pipe or manifold;
  • OEM part numbers printed on the sensor body or label, matched against the references shown in the product description.

If you are unsure, you can contact us with your VIN or registration number and clear photos of your existing sensor and mounting area. Our team can help confirm compatibility before you place an order. For general guidance, see How to Find the Right Part and Compatibility & VIN Policy.

Used OEM sensors from dismantled trucks

VRA Truckparts specialises in used OEM truck parts sourced from carefully selected donor vehicles. From our dismantling yard in Essex we strip modern European trucks from brands such as Volvo, MAN, DAF, Mercedes-Benz and Scania, clean and inspect parts and list the exact components you see in the photos with honest descriptions.

During dismantling, our technicians remove air flow and intake sensors, inspect connectors and housings for visible damage and reject units that do not meet our standards. Usable sensors are labelled with OEM references where available and stored under cover in our warehouse ready for dispatch.
